We are youth born in Chicago with roots from Central Serbia, known as Šumadija. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of our grandparents and great-grandparents who have not forgotten our origin or most important traditions. In that vein, we created the Šumadija humanitarian foundation: A non-profit organization focused on empowering and supporting orphanages and charitable causes in Serbia and worldwide through community-driven fundraising and humanitarian efforts.

Step into a 1920s-inspired evening of music, dining, and meaning. Humanitarian Foundation Šumadija and the Serbian American Medical Association invite you to our most extraordinary night of the year — a Grand Benefit Gala where elegance meets purpose, and where every guest becomes part of something larger than themselves. This year, we are raising funds for N.U.R.D.O.R. — the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer in Serbia. An organization founded by parents who lived this. Who understand it. And who refuse to let any other family walk it alone.

After the humbling success of our first event, we are thrilled to be hosting our second annual Sumadijsko Vece! This year we are partnering with humanitarian foundation Srbi za Srbe (Serbs for Serbs) and raising money via this event for the Arsić family from Kosovo, the Stanić family from Prnjavor, and the Azdejković family from Brus.

At Manastir Gracanica (35240 W Grant Ave, Third Lake, IL 60046) we will be hosting our first annual Sumadijsko Vece! Plans for this event include live music, folklor performances, a silent auction, and more! For this event, all proceeds will go to the Zvecanska 19 orphanage. Entrance is $20. Our goal is not just this year, but in the future as well, to raise money and help less fortunate Serbian children in need in Serbia and worldwide.
